The public is invited to the WFA Outdoor Musical Instrument Dedication Ceremony in The Children's Garden on Sunday August 1st from 10 am – 2 pm, with a rain date of Saturday August 7th. Made possible by a generous donation from the Kay Collier Foundation, the musical instruments were added to the WFA Children’s Garden in honor of Karen Manner’s 18 years of service to the Arboretum. Karen was a WFA Trustee for 16 years, most recently serving as President from 2017- 2020.
All are invited to attend and test the new multigenerational musical instruments in our “Musical Garden”, selected to provide people of all ages and abilities the opportunity to make music together in a healthy outdoor environment.
Tables will be available to provide information about Beekeeping (yes, there is a honey bee colony at WFA), the Community Garden, the Giving Garden, Arboretum membership, the WFA Brite Nites event and Geocaching (yes, there is a geocache at WFA). For those curious about the Community Garden, there will be a Community Garden tour led by the garden managers. Children attending will get an environmental scavenger hunt game card and a bird bingo card as an activity to do on their own. Some small outdoor games will be available for children to use, and a sprinker will be set up for cooling off from the August heat. Bring a blanket and join us on Sunday August 1st at 10 am!
