Wagner Farm Arboretum runs on the energy of volunteers. We are looking for all levels of volunteers – new to the area, seasoned volunteer, or families. Please see the list below if you’d like to participate in an activity or be part of the groups that help out throughout the year.

Each year, volunteers must present a signed Release & Waiver form to work in the WFA gardens. Click below to print the form and bring it with you the first time in each year that you volunteer. The form will remain in effect for the entire season.
Seasonal Garden Activities
Flower Gardening: If you enjoy puttering in a flower garden, volunteer to spend some time on a regular basis in our Children’s Garden tending to plant cleanup, weeding, and other activities to keep the grounds neat (from May through September).
Vegetable Gardening: Volunteers (individuals or groups) are needed to help tend vegetable garden beds where produce is grown and donated to area food banks and soup kitchens. See our "Giving Gardens Project".
Group Volunteering
Group/Team/Corporate: Wagner Farm Arboretum and Gardens welcomes groups March through November assist with general garden maintenance, Brite Nite assembly/disassembly and special projects in line with WFA’s mission. Please send team building inquiries to administrator@wfafnj.org, including preferred date(s), time and group size.
Other Volunteer Positions
Education Volunteer: This is a volunteer position. The individual will be responsible for helping the Education Chairperson to create a calendar with education and cultural classes to be offered by WFA. The contact and follow up of presenters/instructors/exhibitors will be required. Ability to be present during classes is preferred but not required.
Grant Researcher/Writer: Help us procure funding for planned projects that enhance the Arboretum Gardens and the greenhouse. We need your talents and skills working with Corporate, Individual, Small Businesses or Foundations to encourage giving. This is a volunteer position and will work as part of a team.
WFA Trustee: Trustees are responsible for the carrying out of the WFA Mission using the non-profit by-laws to guide in decision-making. Additional duties include board governance and ensuring the organization is financially solvent, sound and fulfilling its mission by running existing and future programs effectively. Monthly meetings are required as well as chairing a position or committee.
Our trustees serve on rotating terms of 1 to 3 years. As a result, we are constantly welcoming new talented, passionate and motivated applicants to join our board. Applications received will be retained by WFA for consideration when future openings occur. Interested parties can also inquire about joining a committee to gain more exposure.
